The Glen Garth Hotel is situated in Barrow in Furness where
the Lakes meets the sea, on the beautiful Furness
Peninsula. The Splendor of the Lake District is Just a
step away and the train journey to reach us, around Morecambe
Bay must rank as one of the most beautiful in England.
12th Century Furness Abbey, is only a few hundred meters from
the Hotel and is well worth a visit. There is a busy
shopping centre just one mile into the town with a cinema,
bowling alley, leisure centre, golf courses and a swimming
pool just some of the local amenities. The Dock Museum,
is dedicated to the rich history of Barrow as a shipbuilding
and iron industry town and the South Lakes Wild Animal Park is
one of the areas most popular tourist attractions.
Nearby Ulverston is an ancient market town and was the
birthplace of the comedian Stan Laurel. The town boasts
a Laurel & Hardy museum dedicated to the famous duo.
Quaint Piel Island has a Bird Sanctuary and miles of beaches
foe leisurely walks
